                                                               Astrology


                                             A serene evening by river.
                                             Confused drunken footsteps are taking
                                             me away from home 
                                             as bare trees lining the path
                                             prepare for ensuing night.

                                             I look upwards 
                                             hoping for fresh air --
                                             moonless sky is bright and crystal clear,
                                             dazzling Orion shines over south bank  
                                             while grave Saptarshi illuminates north.
                                             Pole-star has aligned with the question mark
                                             maintaining its constant position.

                                             I do not know astrology,
                                             nor do I believe in sacred stars !

                                             But cold wind 
                                             gushing into smoke-choked lungs
                                             mumbles about great powers of nature
                                             and makes me wonder 
                                             where am I going ?
